Oh, seriously?
So yeah, my Threadless design was dropped early due to a low score. I thought it was pretty good and actually had a shot, so yeah, I am a bit pissed, and could have used a theremin.
What the fuck.
Well, as soon as I can legally print this myself in a few months, it will be on the site.

Fuck that. Seriously. That design is totally fucking fierce. I guess people wanted more kittens?
Threadless is certainly moving towards a mob mentality… if a design isn’t Threadlessy enough it’s out on it’s arse. (yours has an outline and they don’t take kindly to that at the moment) I think that’s why they are/were going to get artists to choose some winners despite their scores. Love your design!
thanks. I’m bitter that this has put me in such a shit mood on my vacation, but I’ll probably wake up tomorrow feeling better. not winning I can live with, but getting kicked out prematurely for a low score…
I feel for you on this. The same thing has happened to me in the past. Threadless needs some new judges because I haven’t seen a design worth buying on there in a long, long time.
Boo to that! A lot of people must have put 0’s, because I’m sure all Seibei visitors gave it a 5$. Threadless members infuriate me sometimes. Sorry bout this, David, but you could always print it yourself, right?
In any case, Threadless ostracizes anything that isn’t:
a) “Clever”
b) Cutesy
c) Animals
d) Mainstream emo/indie
You deserve better.
thanks, y’all. since it was kicked out of the competition early, I may be able to print it considerably sooner than if it had gone through the whole judging process and lost - I’m going to email them to double check exactly when I can do it, but you’ll see it here by December at the latest I imagine.
THATS COMPLETE BULLSHIT!!! That design was the shit!! haha
Who gives a hoot about Threadless? Your label is true blue, and you shouldn’t give it away to those jokers anyway.
The design is 100% SEIBEI, and I’d hate to see it on Threadless. You, as the artist behind SEIBEI have such a distinct style. Your designs should remain SEIBEI.
Great job on the design! When it’s available I’ll pick one up and wear the Hell out of it.
What kills me is that you have to wait to print it yourself! It’s YOUR design, if they boot it off then what rights do they have to it? Bunch a ninnies. It’s true, I haven’t bought a shirt from Threadless in quite awhile either…but I’m buy one from you right now!! From one fellow screen printer to the next - Seibei is the neatest of all shirt sites…I love the whole personal feel of it. It’s touching. Now print me a t-shirt, yo. - April
well, I knew the deal when entering that design - I guess I just got greedy and wanted that theremin.
thanks
Speaking as a regular threadless subber (a thankless task in itself), threadless is not so much a design competition anymore but more of a design collective with a regular pool of designers they use, & now & again they bless someone outside of their clique by printing them. I have never been printed by threadless despite some well performing subs & doubt I will ever be printed by them, but other tee outlets have seen my work on there & have printed a couple of shirts of mine, so threadless works mainly as my online tee cv.
Your design is well worth the 7 day run, & says more about the narrow mindedness of the threadless consumer, years from now, threadless will be mentioned in the same vein as Gap & Abercrombie & Fitch, mark my words, their designs start as a limited print run, but after the most popular designs are endlessly reprinted, they become about as rare as rice is in China. This is why we need indie tee sites like your own, as we Brits say, stiff upper lip old chap!
Much love.
